7 CME Courses to Round Out 2023

This time of year, you may find yourself making a list of to-dos and checking it twice. If “finish this year’s continuing medical education” is on the bottom of that list, the College of American Pathologist (CAP) is here to help. We know that the wealth of expertly-crafted courses available can be intimidating, so our Curriculum Committee has shared their list of top 2023 courses that will enhance your scientific knowledge, prepare you for success and help you check one more thing off that to-do list.

1. MyCAP App Fast Five Challenge

“The best online program right now is the Fast Five Challenge, available on the MyCAP app.” said Vikas Mehta, MD, FCAP. Open up the MyCAP mobile app to the Fast Five Challenges while you’re standing in line on your last gift run and earn CME – fast.

2. Clinical Pathology Improvement Program (CPIP)

Created with the busy practicing pathologists in mind, CPIP provides opportunities to learn more about specialized topics to keep abreast of current scientific knowledge. CPIP courses are practical and easily applied. The interactive case-based approach builds as you move through the materials, unveiling additional information – just like in the real world. 3. Essentials of Laboratory Management

Designed for new leaders, the Essentials of Laboratory Management program walks through the key tasks and workflows to help pathologists grow into their new role. Participants can save 10% when registered for three or more courses at once.

4. Laboratory Medical Direction Online Program

These seven self-paced courses as part of the Laboratory Medical Direction Online program will enhance your skills as a patient advocate. Once you have found yourself more comfortable in the laboratory environment, you will have the foundation necessary to understand where the immediate areas of improvement are, and what the necessary action items may look like.

5. Informatics Essentials for Pathologists

Informatics Essentials for Pathologists is comprised of 10 self-paced courses covering everything from barcode misreads to troubleshooting test order workflows. With the myriad of patient data gathered and interpreted in the field, it is a necessity that everyone involved understands how to not only stay in compliance, but also how to proactively standardize reacting to unexpected situations.

6. Pathology Business Fundamentals

This self-study program covers the importance of financial management at the personal and business levels for pathologists. There is a delicate balance between mastery of your specialty while also understanding how it fits into the larger goals of the medical field. The program has been broken into eight parts so you can move at your own pace and test out your new knowledge.

7. Destination CME Program Series

Perhaps “plan my next vacation” is also on your to-do list so why cross off to for one with a destination CME series like Pathology in the Mountains. “The program is unique because of its intimate setting during educational sessions given by pathology experts known for their outstanding teaching skills. Participants receive 15 hours of CME credit and lots of downtime to enjoy the beautiful destination location with their friends and family.” said Kyle Bradley, MD, FCAP. The next session is in beautiful British Columbia, Canada from June 24-27, 2024.
