New PT/EQA Program Packaging

After a limited launch, all the CAP's proficiency testing (PT)/external quality assessment (EQA) programs that ship cold chain will use new packaging by the end of 2024. The packaging features internal improvements that safeguard product integrity and ensure the product arrives at the destination at the proper temperature. Over time, the CAP is also introducing system improvements where possible that consolidate shipments to reduce excess packaging.

Learn more about the CAP's short- and longer-term changes to program packaging:

Longer term, the CAP's goal is to introduce standardized packaging across our broad portfolio including programs that ship at ambient temperature.

New Packaging: Key Changes

The updates are visible inside and outside the shipper box, featuring:

  • Enhanced cold chain temperature performance: improved insulation and coolants
  • Additional product safeguards: custom-labeled core pack to hold and protect the specimens to reduce potential damage or misplacement
  • Improved identification: CAP-branded label on the shipper box and product labels on each internal core pack; icons and callouts for clarity to minimize delivery delays in transit and within the customer site
  • Enhanced standardization: design allows for more consistency in assembly and appearance across our wide range of programs while providing flexibility to meet the different program and shipping needs
